Memphis-Style Barbecue Sauce Recipe

2 cups ketchup

2/3 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup yellow mustard

1/2 cup water

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tbsp paprika

2 tbsp minced garlic

2 tbsp chopped onion

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp molasses

1/2 tbsp black pepper

2 tbsp butter

 

Firstly, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, then add the garlic, stirring occasionally until fragrant. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer over medium heat for 20-30 min, stirring occasionally to have the ingredients blended well.

 

Remove the sauce from heat then, let it rest.

 

When the sauce cools down to room temperature, transfer the sauce to a jar. You can use it right away, or store it in a fridge for the use in future.

 

It is suggested to use the sauce within a few weeks, but no longer than a month.
